De Nauwe Poort: renovation of an old farmhouse on the Leie

This farmhouse with barns belonging to my grandparents has a long history and can be found on the Ferraris maps. It is a very charming, modest property situated amidst a large protected nature reserve on a meander of the Leie/Latem river. DE NAUWE POORT STANDS FOR SELF-DEVELOPMENT: - living with the garden and the seasons: this is a place for vegetables, fruit, and animals, as well as a place to find peace. - living without paying rent, in exchange for services. This means helping out for 3 hours a day: odd jobs and chores (building a clay stove) working in the garden and vegetable patch organizing and cleaning Cooking and grocery shopping are not part of the job description and are done autonomously. If these services cannot be performed for a valid reason (illness, planned trips, etc.), one may opt to pay rent (25 euros per day, which goes into the common fund with open accounting) or to make up the hours to be performed the following week. Cancelling appointments without a valid reason and/or drug use are grounds for implementing a time-out, and recidivism will result in the complete termination of the agreement. - Daily structure: by mutual agreement - Weekly structure: 3 hours of work per day from Monday to Friday according to the agreed weekly schedule. Saturdays and Sundays are free. - The place is inspired by the Sermon on the Mount, the Essene Community, and the books of Anastasia (Vladimir Megre). WHAT IS INCLUDED? All rooms have natural light and a view of greenery/the Leie river. Downstairs in the house are the communal living space, bathroom, kitchen, and cool storage room. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and 1 library. There is space in the garage for 1 tiny house or camper. Additionally, there is a vegetable garden with fruit trees and chickens, a terrace, lawn, parking area, shed, nursery, and studio. The goal of this project is to live off-grid as much as possible and to renovate the farm as authentically as possible.
