Something more about your co-residents
I am originally from Antwerp but I've lived in 15 countries and traveled to over 50 before returning home recently. I am now working at the University of Antwerp fulltime, as a researcher and lecturer. Before that I worked as an international correspondent and later, I started a non-profit organisation which united artists to create art productions so as to promote social and environmental justice. I recently set up a Bioethics Center in Andalusia where I spent the last three winters. I'm pretty passionate about what I do, though I've gotten quiter over the years. As much as people seem to enjoy my presence and entertainment, I've gotten tired of hearing my onw voice (as well as the voice of other over-achievers :) Loud or quiet, I speak 5 to 7 languages, depending on the day. I care about sustainable living, community, animals, being a good person and a good friend, amonst other things. I love art and beauty, nature, people in all their complexity, language, reading and writing, gardening and listening to old records. I practice meditation and tantra yoga.
These things we like to do togther
I am quite outgoing and I often can be found at one of the two music bars around the corner. Gitanes has live jazz every Thursday night, and Cafe des Arts pretty much every night. While I enjoy going out for concerts and dancing, I don't smoke or drink alcohol (with the exception of an infrequent narguillah, aka shisha or hooka). This is mostly because I practice yoga and meditation which has made me more sensitive to what I put in my body. I'm also vegetarian and, although I have no problem with others eating meat, I've recently become nauseous when smelling fried meat, so I would prefer ad minimum a pescetarian in the house (meaning fish yes, meat no). At home, I get up early--very early. I am mostly either working which includes a lot of reading and writing, or chilling in the garden. I like it peaceful and calm. I travel a lot and I see home as a recharging station. I have a record player with a record collection that I enjoy. Dhiura, my cat, is usually either outside or chilling in one of the cosiest places of the house. Don't worry, there are enough cozy places for everyone.
We are looking for someone who
Female, non-smoker, vegetarian or pescatarian, and cannot have a cat allergy. Other than that, all are welcome. Whether you're 20 or 60, I don't discriminate based on age, race, or nationality--just gender :) but that has more to do with me than with men. That said, if you're a student or don't have much of an income, this is not a cheap living situation. You're in for quite a luxuruous lifestyle and it comes at a cost. But not as high a cost as if you had such lifestyle on your own. If you like living in a clean, highly easthetic, sophisticated home with well-educated, easy going, and considerate company, this is very good value for your money. Just the garden alone in the center of Antwerp, is worth the price--if you can afford it. The garden doesn' t require much taking care of but when I'm away, it would be wonderful if you can water the plants for me. Also, feed the cat :) So, if you want the full package without having to pay the full package, you're at the right address. If you have a healthy and active lifestyle and you sit every day, that's a very good bonus. If you don't know what it means to sit, don't worry, you will if you come live with me.
